ARTILLERY HOUSE - London 2 bedroom with Balcony on Victoria Park - sleeps 5 - Ref:1

With its wildflower meadow and park life on your doorstep, Artillery house is directly facing Victoria Park - the largest public owned park in London.

Ducks and swans meander down the stream in front of the house. The calm and serenity of the apartment might make you want to linger at home, but you are just 20mins away from Brick Lane and Whitechapel and 40mins away from Oxford Street in the center of town.

The Olympic park is in view and the area is undergoing a quiet regeneration.

The apartment contains 2 bedrooms with double beds - there is also a single fold down bed that can be put in the living room.
Bedroom one contains a double and the second bedroom has a smaller double. The bathroom is off the hallway and has a great big shower and a fold down seat for those who need to rest during their wash.
The kitchen is big and you can open out the dining table for 4 to 6 people. The serene view would make you want to do the dishes by hand but there is a dishwasher.

The living room has a treat in store - the wonderful views of Victoria Park, the stream going by and the lovely canal bike lanes.

Within Victoria Park there is Victoria village - a picturesque street with coffee shops and restaurants that you can walk to from the flat.

Several choices of restaurants are within walking distance, a food market a few steps away with fresh produce 3 days a week. The famous Columbia road flower market and Brick Lane are a bus ride away too.

The owners own two West Highland White terriers who stay in the flat when they are in London with their owners.

The immediate area facing the apartment is the wonderful Victoria Park which you can reach by foot in less than 2 minutes. Cross the little bridge over the canal and you are in the 218 acre park with lovely flower beds, a lake, children's playgrounds and tree lined avenues and a large path that run round the park which is great for cycling.

There is a café straight ahead less than 5 mns away for your quick English breakfast. If you walk left you reach The Pavilion, built under Queen Victoria, this domed café is the old pavilion for Victoria Park and looks out over the boating lake. On the edge of the park you will find Victoria Park Village, 10 minutes' walk away with a great selection of independent shops, pubs, restaurants there are designer boutiques, specialist interior shops, cafes, pottery and gift shops as well as hair and beauty salons.

Further afield but within 20 minutes there is Spitafields market, Brick Lane and Petticoat lane markets as well as Columbia Road's flower market, Whitechapel galleries and of course the new Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

For the more classic London the Central Line tube which is a 20mns walk (or a 10mn bus ride on the #8 bus) takes you to Tottenham Court Road, Oxford Circus and Bond Street - the main shopping streets of London also called the West End. Here you will also find most of London's Theatres.

St Pauls Cathedral is 3 stops away on the same Central Line.

From the Mile end tube line (20mns walk) take the District line to Embankment, Victoria, Richmond, Kew Gardens or exit at South Kensington for the Natural History Museum, Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) and the Science museum, great for kids.

From Mile End tube you can also take the Hammersmith and City line to Paddington for the Heathrow Express.

Lieu accueillant, calme, chaleureux, vivant, confortable.

Great Apartment
Stayed here for 1 week while working nearby. Great alternative to booking a hotel, meaning I could cook my own food. Small town located 10 minute walk away with shops. I used taxi's to get around to most places, but overall a nice flat, with good space, and quiet surroundings.

"A great place to stay"
We were very happy that we (my husband, 15 year old son, and myself) decided to stay in this flat for our one week stay in London. It's location on Victoria Park with a canal right outside made it quite unique and special. Despite unusually chilly July weather we still enjoyed sitting on the small terrace. The apartment itself has plenty of room for four guests. The kitchen is large and well equipped. The bedrooms are comfortable with ample storage space. The bus stop is a two minute walk from the apartment and we enjoyed the short ride to the Underground station. We rarely had to wait long for the bus or the tube. We enjoyed the neighborhood - a 10 minute walk across the park is a small commercial area with good neighborhood restaurants. The diverse neighborhood made us feel like we were experiencing London as residents, not tourists. Grocery shopping is a bit limited but we found what we needed within walking distance. I would recommend this flat to friends and would definitely stay there again.

Enjoyed our stay in this flat!
My family, consisting of myself, my husband, my grown up daughter and my teenage son stayed in this flat for nearly two weeks. Unfortunately, due to delays in flight we were late for our arrival. Nevertheless, we were met by Jason King who kindly waited for us and oriented us to the flat and the neighborhood. Jason was very pleasant and very helpful. The flat is just as described and it served as home base for us as we explored central London and some of the countryside. The flat was clean, well cared for and had a charming view. We spent Christmas Day exploring the nearby Victoria Park and loved waking in the morning to hearing the calls from the resident geese and swans that live in the nearby canal. To get to the flat, you do have to traverse a very diverse neighborhood. At first we were a bit intimidated by this, but as we spent time in the neighborhood we found people to be friendly. The number 8 bus stop was just a half a block away and afforded us a short ride to the entrance to the Underground. We did have one issue with the toilet which would not flush. Despite it being Christmas Eve, Jason was good about getting us immediate help to rectify the problem. Later, the toilet seat became loose. It would have been nice to have a couple of tools in the flat to allow us the fix that problem. Otherwise, the kitchen was well equipped and the manual supplied us with all the information these Americans needed to operate the appliances -- which operate very differently from our appliances at home. We did wish for a nearby grocery store that carried a better variety of food but by the end of the trip we found shopping the small markets afforded us the fresh meats and vegetables we could not find at Iceland's and we did fine. We enjoyed our stay in London and I would definitely recommend this flat for families, couples or others seeking to get away.

“The perfect place in London, especially with a dog.”
We arrived one hour early because we caught an earlier ferry and Elodie, who welcomed us, was still on time! The apartment was clean and very well equipped. What made it perfect for us was the short distance to the park which is really dog-friendly, and the short distance to the bus stop which connected us with the Tube.

"Accolti da Paul, che ci aspettava puntuale e che si è reso disponibile per ogni evenienza, senza essere invadente. Casa ampia e completamente accessoriata. Ci siamo stati bene in cinque, due adulti e tre ragazzi tra 15 e 18 anni. Molto tranquilla e vista eccezionale sul parco. Fermata bus 8 a 2 minuti. L'ascensore purtroppo non era funzionante, per tutta la settimana! Parcheggiare è relativamente problematico: a pagamento per max 4 ore o nelle Visitors Bay ma tutte occupate."
