With its wildflower meadow and park life on your doorstep, Artillery house is directly facing Victoria Park - the largest public owned park in London.
Ducks and swans meander down the stream in front of the house. The calm and serenity of the apartment might make you want to linger at home, but you are just 20mins away from Brick Lane and Whitechapel and 40mins away from Oxford Street in the center of town.
The Olympic park is in view and the area is undergoing a quiet regeneration.
The apartment contains 2 bedrooms with double
beds - there is also a single fold down bed that
can be put in the living room.
Bedroom one contains a double and the
second bedroom has a smaller double. The bathroom
is off the hallway and has a great big shower and a fold down seat
for those who need to rest during their wash.
The kitchen is big and you can open out the
dining table for 4 to 6 people. The serene view would make you want
to do the dishes by hand but there is a dishwasher.
The living room has a treat in store -
the wonderful views of Victoria Park, the stream going by and the
lovely canal bike lanes.
Within Victoria Park there is Victoria village - a
picturesque street with coffee shops and restaurants that you can
walk to from the flat.
Several choices of restaurants are within walking distance,
a food market a few steps away with fresh produce 3 days a week.
The famous Columbia road flower market and Brick Lane are a bus
ride away too.
The owners own two West Highland White terriers who stay in
the flat when they are in London with their owners.
LOCATION
The immediate area facing the apartment is the wonderful Victoria
Park which you can reach by foot in less than 2 minutes.
Cross the little bridge over the canal and you are in the
218 acre park with lovely flower beds, a lake,
children's playgrounds and tree lined avenues and a large path that
run round the park which is great for cycling.
There is a café straight ahead less than 5 mns
away for your quick English breakfast. If you walk left you
reach The Pavilion, built under Queen Victoria,
this domed café is the old pavilion for Victoria Park and looks out
over the boating lake. On the edge of the park you will
find Victoria Park Village, 10 minutes' walk away with a great
selection of independent shops, pubs, restaurants there are
designer boutiques, specialist interior shops, cafes, pottery and
gift shops as well as hair and beauty salons.
Further afield but within 20 minutes there is Spitafields
market, Brick Lane and Petticoat lane
markets as well as Columbia Road's flower market,
Whitechapel galleries and of course the new
Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
For the more classic London the Central Line tube which is a 20mns walk (or a 10mn bus ride on the #8 bus) takes you to Tottenham Court Road, Oxford Circus and Bond Street - the main shopping streets of London also called the West End. Here you will also find most of London's Theatres.
St Pauls Cathedral is 3 stops away on the same Central Line.
From the Mile end tube line (20mns walk) take the District line to Embankment, Victoria, Richmond, Kew Gardens or exit at South Kensington for the Natural History Museum, Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) and the Science museum, great for kids.
From Mile End tube you can also take the Hammersmith and City line to Paddington for the Heathrow Express.
